This conversation is currently closed to new comments. Often this problem occurs with firewalls in place on the client, as the server takes some time to gather what you need, then processes it. In the meantime, the firewall and the server lose the connection, as the firewall sees a connection not being used and closes it.


If you are behind a firewall, try going around it or turning it off. Hi nikki, Thanks for the input, but there is no firewall on my client PC.


I must pass through our LAN firewall as always, but this has never been a problem before. I do not have access or rights to the LAN firewall and its settings. Most other software updates and programs from the same site have been MB.


Any other ideas? I have a download manager for things that large, but I'm on dial-up. Have you considered using one of those?


You'd still get disconnected, but at least you wouldn't have to start over every time. You can find several nice free ones by searching Google.


Hi nikki, I was able to find and install a free manager. I was able to get the entire MB file on the first attempt! I uninstalled it once I was finished and found that it removed itself completely although it did send me out to the internet toask me why I was removing it--we have software standards and really aren't supposed to have unauthorized stuff on the workstations This was the right price as well since we have no budget for extras--free!!

Some sites reset connections when they reach their connection limit. I think you are going to have to install a download manager. Among other things, these programs allow you to resume an interrupted download.
